Background Audio Remover vs Adobe Enhance Speech
Adobe Podcast’s Enhance Speech is a well-known way to clean up voice recordings. It runs on Adobe’s servers, and on the free plan it is limited to audio files. If you need to clean the sound of a video, or you’d rather not upload your file, this tool is the alternative.

Which one should you use?
- Use this tool when you want the noise gone from a video without re-exporting it in an editor, when the file is private (a client call, a family video), when it is longer than Adobe’s free limits, or when you don’t want another account.
- Use Adobe Enhance when you want the “studio voice” effect: Adobe also reshapes and levels the voice, which this tool does not do. Some people love that sound; others find it too processed.
- The honest way to choose: try the same clip in both. Here you can flip between Original and Clean with S while it plays.

Questions
Is this made by Adobe?
No. Background Audio Remover is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Adobe. Adobe and Adobe Podcast are trademarks of Adobe.
Can Adobe Enhance Speech clean video for free?
According to Adobe’s Enhance Speech FAQ, video upload is available to Premium users. This tool cleans the sound of MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos for free.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The noise removal runs inside your browser on your own device. The file is never sent to a server.
Will my video lose quality?
The picture doesn’t: it is copied into the new file as it is, without re-encoding. The sound comes back in the same format at about the same bitrate (WAV as 16-bit). The cleaned voice is mono (the same on both channels), so stereo effects in the original are not kept.
