What wind does to your sound — and what this fixes
Wind hitting a microphone makes low, rumbling bursts that cover the voice. Phones and action cameras pick it up easily because their microphones sit right at the surface of the device.
This tool uses a speech model that has learned what voices sound like. It keeps the voice and lowers everything else — the rumble, the gusts, and the steady background noise outdoors such as traffic.
What it can’t fully fix
- Overloaded audio. When a gust is so loud the recording clips (the waveform hits the top), the voice under it is damaged. The tool removes the rumble, but the voice in that moment may sound rough or drop out.
- Other sounds people make. Nearby voices and music are not noise to the model and are kept.
Tips for better results
- Listen with headphones and press S to flip between Original and Clean at the same moment.
- If the voice sounds thin after cleaning, try Voice warmth → Light. Wind takes a lot of low sound away; warmth adds some back only while someone talks.
- Next time you film outside, a foam or furry windscreen on the mic stops most wind before it is recorded.
Questions
Can it remove wind noise from iPhone and GoPro videos?
Yes. MP4 and MOV files from iPhones, Android phones, GoPro and DJI cameras work. The picture is copied as it is; only the sound is cleaned.
Will my video lose quality?
The picture doesn’t: it is copied into the new file as it is, without re-encoding. The sound comes back in the same format at about the same bitrate (WAV as 16-bit). The cleaned voice is mono (the same on both channels), so stereo effects in the original are not kept.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The noise removal runs inside your browser on your own device. The file is never sent to a server.
Does it work on long videos?
Yes, there is no length limit. On phones you get a warning for files over 30 minutes, because a phone can run out of memory — use a computer for those.
